LAND BANK “BLAIR HOUSE” LEGISLATION SIGNED INTO LAW

BOSTON- An Act Approving the Conveyance by the Nantucket Islands Land Bank of Certain Land Situated in the Town of Nantucket sponsored by State Representative Tim Madden was signed into law this week and is now Chapter 182 of Acts of 2011. This home rule petition allows for the Nantucket Islands Land Bank to convey the land encompassing property known as the “Blair House” which is located in historic downtown. In 2001, it was necessary for the Land Bank to purchase the property as the land surrounding the house encompasses the main access point to its nearby Lily Pond property.

Upon news of the legislation’s signing, Executive Director of the Land Bank, Eric Savetsky, commented that “this is a win-win for the Land Bank in that we won’t have to spend a large sum of money renovating the house, and we get to sell the house which is worth quite a bit due to its desirable location.”

“I want to thank Eric Savetsky, Senator Dan Wolf’s and both their staffs, for all of their assistance getting this legislation passed”.
