CONCORD, Mass. (March 21, 2011) – Due to weather concerns and predicted high winds, the maintenance work scheduled for this week on the Bourne Bridge spanning the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne, Mass., has been postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday, March 29, 2011, according to officials from the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.
This maintenance work will now be done next week, weather permitting. Traffic on the Bourne Bridge will be limited to one lane of traffic in each direction during this work period on Tuesday, March 29 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work will consist of fixtures and wiring repair.
During these repairs, no wide loads will be permitted to cross the span, and state and local police will be on duty at all times work is being performed to assist the motoring public.
Signage will alert motorists to the bridge work and associated travel restrictions. In addition, accessing the Cape Cod Canal website (use the
link: CapeCodCanal.US, then Bridge Work Alerts) will inform motorists on the status of the work, and other adjustments to the schedule that may interest motorists using the bridge.
