EDGARTOWN AWARDED OVER $10,000 FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT

BOSTON– State Representative Timothy R. Madden of Nantucket announced this week that that Edgartown has been awarded $10,835 towards installation of a 1.4 kW solar photovoltaic array on the Town maintenance garage from the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust for a project that furthers the Commonwealth’s clean energy goals.

This project will help provide clean electricity to the Town and also serve as an educational tool for local elementary school students by using a small portion of the funds to purchase renewable energy science kits to be used at the elementary school.  These kits will help educate students about wind, solar and fuel cell technologies.

“This project is a great example small steps communities can make to becoming greener while also educating its young citizens about clean energy” said Rep. Madden.
